October 5th Update

We had such a great week in 3C!

LITERACY

This week we:
  • used what we've been learning in our IDEAS lessons in writing to construct an idea web about Terry Fox. Then, we wrote a paragraph about him as a group. When we were writing our paragraph we made sure that we included a topic sentence, proper punctuation and capitalization, and varied our sentence starters.
  • read a variety of read alouds. We focused on making connections when we read, making predictions, asking questions and checking for understanding to improve our comprehension.

NUMERACY

This week we:
  • worked on finding the next number in a decreasing pattern by subtracting
  • learned how to extend a decreasing pattern

SCIENCE

This week we:
  • finished up our layers of the earth models

Click HERE to see the rest of the students with their models!

  • learned about the rock cycle and the three types of rocks

  • watched some amazing videos and learned so much! This is one video that I promised to share on the blog so they could do this experiment at home! It's super fun!

  • participated in the first two of four rock activity centres

ORANGE SHIRT DAY

On Monday we:
  • read a few indigenous themed picture books
  • went to a presentation with Elder Sydney and he taught us about the use of animals in his culture.

STAR STUDENT

This week we enjoyed getting to know Phoenix better!
