On Tuesday, when the sub was in, we had a regular day in 3C. The students completed our regular literacy routine and worked on counting by 5s and 25s in math. Their behaviour was great for Mrs. Robinson which was so fantastic to hear! I was so proud of them!
Wednesday and Thursday were not routine days in 3C. We spent a lot of time on creating a piece of artwork that will be turned into a Christmas card for a school fundraiser. The students are very proud of their work and put a solid effort into every step of the process. The RBES Fundraising Committee has made some changes to this fundraiser this year and I think our parents are going to be really happy! The new company that they picked produces cards that are of a much better quality and they are bigger...you will be able to include a Christmas photo in with your Christmas card this year! Your child will bring home a sample of the card and the ordering instructions will be inside the card. There is also an option to buy other items with your child's art work on it.
We did sneak in some Social Studies into our days along with our literacy routine. The students have been learning about the continents and oceans. They really enjoyed this video that has helped them remember the names of the seven continents of the world: The Seven Continents of the World
Yesterday, we were excited to go for a walk to celebrate Take Me Outside Day. Unfortunately, a sudden change in the weather over the lunch hour with extremely strong wind gusts forced us to cancel our excursion. The students and I were very disappointed. Luckily, I had run home at lunch to grab my dog Tali for the walk and she was able to stay for an hour in the classroom and the students adored her. The rest of yesterday afternoon was spent finishing up some Halloween art and going to PE for our last day of Mission Impossible.

This week, although not typical, taught the students a valuable lesson on flexibility. We need to learn to be flexible thinkers and be able to roll with changes in our routines and disappointments. We talk about being "Flexy Lexy" in 3C. This is an important executive functioning skill for children and adults to develop.
