The highlight of our day was our afternoon of science centres! The students partnered up and rotated through 7 different stations where they had the opportunity to explore sound waves, vibrations, pitch and how sound travels through solids, liquids and gas.
After making observations at each centre, we came together as a group and came up with our
top three key learnings:
- The faster the vibration, the higher the pitch. The slower the vibration, the lower the pitch.
- If you stop the vibration, the sound stops too.
- Sound travels quickest through solids because the atoms in solids are the closest together, compared to liquids and gas.
