Merry Christmas!

Wow! What a fantastic five days!!! The students and I work very hard on a variety of things this week!

MATH

In math, we started working on double digit addition with trading. This is the first time that I have used Jump Math to teach this concept and I have to say, I was very impressed with how things were broken down. The part of the traditional algorithm that is tough for many students to understand is the reason for the "trading" when the sum of a column is a double digit number. Jump Math did a FABULOUS job explaining this to students. All of the students in 3C were able to add two 2-digit numbers with and without trading by the end of the week. In January, we will review this concept and practice adding multi digit numbers where trading is needed randomly.

LITERACY

In writing, I introduced the students to JoAnne Moore's writing program. We are working on a paragraph about life in a snowglobe.
